Mary Katherine Newman (Mary) is a second year Medieval and Modern Languages (Spanish) DPhil student at the University of Oxford, expected to submit 2023/4.

Her dissertation project is titled An assault on the senses: The understanding and rhetoric of the five senses in the first-hand accounts of the initial period of the Arauco War (ca. 1546-1656). She is supervised by Dr Imogen Choi.

Her research is generously funded by Trinity College’s inaugural Cecil Lubbock Memorial Graduate Scholarship.
